How would I investigate child abuse by Catholic Church in Africa?
I would be grateful for advice with the issue of child abuse by the Catholic Church in Africa. Irish Missionaries had a huge influence in Africa.
I want to investigate if Irish Missionaries abused children in Africa and bring the abusers to justice. I do not know how to do this.
I would like to put adverts in African newspapers and websites calling for victims to come forward. Also, I would like to know if Irish citizens who abused children abroad can be punished in Irish Courts.
If you are actually concerned about the children, don’t neglect to check out Protestant missionaries, since such abuse is slightly more common among Protestant clergy than Catholic clergy.

You could go to Africa and ask them.

Actually, the good priests are out in the fields starving and suffering with the new converts.
The molesters mainly stayed in Ireland.

I wouldn’t put that much effort into it — it’s probably true, so just start telling people it is.

You offer rewards for people to come up with the stories you want. The going rate for buying someone’s soul is far cheaper in Africa than it is in Ireland.

Why limit your research to the Catholic Church? Don’t you think child abuse has been committed by other organizations?

You should extend your efforts to all victims of child abuse. Including that school Oprah Winfrey started in Africa where the kids were abused by non-Irish missionaries.

Africa is heaven to paedophile priests, all the kids they want and when they want.and no questions asked, they just tell the kids they’ve guaranteed themselves a plaice in heaven, for looking after the priests.hope you get them and bring them to task for their dastardly deeds to these young kids

for maximum results you would need to have a message imprinted in their own language on consumer products, newspaper ads can be edited and deleted for a small fee, from the church, but difficult to remove from the side of a can of powered milk for example!!! and offer a tangible reward in their terms for information, say a wind up radio, available from a local shop or store.

If you have no evidence that sounds a strange ambition.

youd need a list of priests that served in africa and what years they were there , also you need a mapped area of parishes that the priests served in .you should then cross reference the list of names with known convicted priests , also you should try to find out what parishes priests served in before they left for africa or got back , and if there were any extenuating circumstances in the parishes they left or went back to.If you can do this before you actually go to africa it would give you a good starting point of where or who to start your investigation when you get there also you need someone who knows africa and the catholic church well to act as a guide while your there , perhaps there may be a person who has tried to raise abuse issues before , maybe even an ex catholic priest who has raised issues and been ignored or silenced or one that has stepped down from the catholic church there . also start with people who are serving there now and work backwards , the new priest should know what priest he replaced in what parish and lastly approach the investigation with an open mind remember there just might be some good priests out there , you never know

Well, first you need what’s called Reasonable Suspicion. If you don’t have that, then forget it. Remeber – it’s REASONABLE suspicion.
<<Irish Missionaries had a huge influence in Africa. I want to investigate if Irish Missionaries abused children in Africa and bring the abusers to justice. I do not know how to do this.>>
Go to Africa, find some Irish Missionaries, and research their missionary work in Africa.
Maybe you’ll find something, most likely you won’t.
<<I would like to put adverts in African newspapers and websites calling for victims to come forward.>>
Who are you and by what authority to do make such a request from African Catholics?
You’d better have some REAL authority AND reasonable suspicion, lest you slander the Catholic Church and find yourself being charged with a crime and not the other way around.
<<Also, I would like to know if Irish citizens who abused children abroad can be punished in Irish Courts.>>
That would all depend on the laws in the African country in which the alleged abuse takes place.
You should place the interest of any victims first and see to having any missionaries alleged with abuse tried in the country in which the abuse took place.
