Shark Finning Carnage

In just the last three decades, the number of sharks has been decimated by a barbaric practice called Shark Finning. Sharks are caught in vast numbers using long line fishing. Literally, mile after mile of baited hooks are dropped into the ocean. Thousands of other fish and sea turtles are killed as “incidental” catch and thrown overboard. Sharks, sometimes still alive, are brought onto large fishing boats where their top fin is cut off and the animal discarded. If alive, the poor creature drowns. 90% of the world’s shark resources have been destroyed in this manner so that the Chinese can use the fins in. . . soup.
